For sheen enhancement and long-term durability of this exposed concrete high-traffic retail floor, we specified and installed AQURON 1000 penetrating hydrogel to the project. The SLAB-TECT system is tailored to a project’s requirements – for this project we achieved curing and sealing with one treatment.
The treatment cures, seals, and hardens the concrete to 150mm deep, and it is compatible with any future coatings that are compatible with concrete. This means that the surface will not require a grind for coatings such as line-marking.

The photos below were taken 15 years after the original application of the SLAB-TECT system in 2006.
The high surface sheen is a visible outcome of wear and tear caused by traffic on the concrete slab post-application of the SLAB-TECT system. This phenomenon is a testament to the effectiveness of the system in enhancing the appearance and durability of the surface.
This high sheen can be seen on other TWL (The Warehouse Limited) stores around New Zealand, having had the SLAB-TECT system applied to the concrete slabs.
