Frequently Asked Questions
Architect FAQ’s
How long has the system been used for
Over 20 years of project history. Exceptional performance over this time, including projects that have been through numerous earthquakes in the Canterbury region of New Zealand.
Who has used the system before?
We work with Australasia’s leading consultants and project teams on various projects including Apartment Basements, Car Park Top Decks, Podiums, Storage Tanks, Pools, Retaining Walls etc.
Does your system satisfy council requirements?
All technical data, test reports and associated docs are readily available to be included in the project submission. We have never been knocked back to date!
Does this system handle Hydrostatic pressure?
Yes. We test this system right up to 40 head of pressure with no ingress through the concrete. Fantastic results.
How do we go about detailing?
Our project consultants join the full design team for project meetings, assist with detailing on plans and sign off completed drawings.
Do you help with design?
Our projects consultants will help you design with project specific detailing. Every project is different and the team understands this.
How to waterproof the joints?
This is simple. Every project is different but generally the use of our delayed-swell gasket looks after the joints. This includes Pour Joints, Stitch Joints, Pile to Shotcrete Joints etc.
What happens if there is moisture ingress?
Our system is much easier to remediate if it happens to fail. Unlike alternate systems where water can track along the wall and ingress through various points, you can see ingress right on point and remediate.
What is your system compatible with?
Any product that is formulated for the use on concrete is compatible with our waterproofing and concrete durability system – Line Marking, Paint, Adhesives etc.

Engineer FAQ’s
Does it effect the strength of concrete?
There is no negative effect on the strength of the concrete, in many cases we experience strength gains. Colloidal silica is the base ingredient which has been enhancing structures dating back to Roman structures.
How to control cracking?
Project specific detailing, looking into pour sizes and pour layout are important to control and reduce the risk of drying shrinkage cracking. Quality curing is of utmost importance also, hence the use of the hydrogel spray treatment as a cure!
How does the concrete curing procedure work?
Spray applied hydrogel curing, equal to a 14-day water cure in its performance, is the key here. Supplied and applied, within 24hours of the pour, by our own installers to ensure the quality is high. Moisture retention is of great importance to reduce drying shrinkage cracking.

Yes. We test this system right up to 40 head of pressure with no ingress through the concrete. Fantastic results.
Can your system work with gas proof and contaminated sites?
This system has been used, and performed with ease to protect against gas, contaminated materials, geothermal, acid attack etc. Always good to discuss this one through if your site is unique.

Where has your system been used before?
Over 20 years of project history in NZ alone. Exceptional performance over this time, including projects that have been through numerous earthquakes in the Canterbury region. Past projects include Apartment Basements, Car Park Top Decks, Podiums, Storage Tanks, Pools, Retaining Walls etc.
How do the costs compare to traditional waterproofing systems?
We can achieve huge savings, not only in the system alone but program time on site, ease and safety.
How long is your warranty?
This is always project specific. Typically, the minimum warranty length is 25 years.

Contractors FAQ’s
Who does what on the construction site?
So easy at a site level. No additional trades, no large delays due to weather, no need for trades to get into unsafe or confined spaces. Concrete turns up to site, as it was always going to, and it’s waterproof! Admixture is provided via your ready mix provider, superswell gasket is supplied and installed by the main contractor, spray treatment is supplied and applied by Markham. We then provide the QA.

How safe is your system?
A lot safer, our system eliminates the need to put your applicators in potentially hazardous situations. Why put tradies in confined spaces, behind walls with exposed excavations to install traditional waterproofing methods.
Do you have a QA process?
Yes – This is a key area for us to ensure we can provide the warranty the project requires. Project meetings, batching control, documentation, site inspections, and application are all provided by Markham. All reports and documentation are available along the way.
